Some adventures begin not on the sea, but in the sky. As I board my flight to Croatia, watch the world shrink beneath the clouds, it hits me—summer is here, and the Felix Arba Expedition is just around the corner. The long flight is a quiet moment to reflect, to shift from the pace of everyday life into the rhythm of the Adriatic. The anticipation builds with every mile east, knowing that soon I’ll be back among islands, boats, and the incredible people who bring our programs to life.
This summer marks our second trip to the Kvarner Archipelago, and we’re heading to the island of Rab with new energy, fresh ideas, and—most exciting of all—Vinka, our beautifully restored 1937 sailing boat. My friend just sent me a message: she’s freshly painted and ready to sail. That alone filled me with joy. We’ll be joined by students from Banja Luka, Split, and beyond, coming together to explore sea caves, hike island trails, and learn the art of sailing. It’s going to be a week full of salt air, sun, laughter, and new friendships.
As I prepare to land, I feel that familiar spark of excitement. There’s something magical about returning to a place where so many stories begin—where boats become bridges and the sea connects us all. The voyage aloft is just the beginning. Croatia, we’re ready. Let the summer adventure begin.ure begin!
